About the role

The Civil Government and Industry team helps to drive profitable diversification of the business into new market areas. As a result of continued strong growth, my client is now seeking a Business Manager to join this team, to help establish a broader position in the water sector.

You will be building on their experience of providing asset management and innovation support, and expertise in advanced modelling and analysis in areas such as vibration, novel materials, computational fluid dynamics, supportability engineering and data science.

You will be responsible for building the customer portfolio with water companies, their supply chains, the regulator, and research organisations, helping to address key industry challenges such as the transition to net zero, innovating to reduce leakage, optimising asset management decision making and introduction of new technology, and ensuring environmental sustainability. In doing so, you will diversify the customer base and help to drive the development of services offered.

• Develop the long-term strategic plan for the sector and contribute to the wider overall Frazer-Nash business strategy.
• Be responsible and accountable for developing and delivering the in-year sector plan, including leading the business development activities in the sector.
• Work collaboratively with other sector Business Managers within the Civil Government and Industry team, and the wider Frazer-Nash organisation.
• Draw on your skills and network to develop and maintain high performing collaborative relationships with customers, delivery partners, suppliers, and key sector stakeholders.
• Characterise the key market drivers and influence the development of our services towards the needs of the market.
• Develop and coordinate campaign plans to deliver quote, order, and profitability targets.
• Identify, characterise, influence and capture opportunities for delivery by the business.
• Support internal delivery and maintain excellent customer relations, quality, programmes, and profitability across the portfolio.

About You

To be suitable for the role, you will be someone who wants the opportunity to lead the rapid growth of an emerging area of business in a successful and innovative engineering and technology consultancy company. You must also be able to meet the following minimum requirements:

• An ability to quickly grasp and convey complex technical challenges, and to identify the mechanical, electrical, digital, modelling, and advisory skills required to address those challenges.
• Ability to understand the client’s requirements and turn them into winning proposals.
• Extensive range of contacts within the water sector, combined with a good understanding of how the sector operates.
• Superb communication skills and entrepreneurial customer relationship management experience.
• Ability to identify and develop new skills and services to bid and win major projects.
• Have a broad mix of strategy, business development and bid leadership skills.

Overview

  • Locations – This role could also be based at any of my clients UK offices. They offer hybrid working which can vary from working in their offices, home, or client sites. The Business Manager role will require travel to meet with clients. List of UK offices: Dorking (Leatherhead), Bristol, Burton-on-Trent, Dorchester, Glasgow, Gloucester, Middlesbrough, Plymouth, Warrington.
  • Salary – £65k – £75k
