About the role

My client provides independent engineering, technology, and advisory services to the nuclear industry, supporting the development, regulation, deployment, effective operation and decommissioning of nuclear power plants. As a result of continuing strong growth, they are seeking a talented Business Manager to join their nuclear team and help us build on their established position.

The role will focus on the new nuclear portfolio, specifically support to small modular reactors (SMRs), Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs) and emerging markets. You will be responsible for building the portfolio of work with both existing and new SMR and AMR vendors alongside broader stakeholders. All this must be done in collaboration with the wider Civil Nuclear and Energy teams noting the strong potential for cogeneration in this space. In doing so, you will maximise the potential of existing relationships and framework positions, diversify the customer base and help to drive the development of services offered.

You will deliver integrated consultancy solutions across both new and long-term clients, which will include the following responsibilities:

• Contribute to the strategy of the overall nuclear business and develop the strategic (5 year) plan for the new nuclear sector.
• Be responsible and accountable for developing and delivering the in-year sector plan, including leading the Business Development activities in the sector.
• Characterise the key market drivers and influence the development of our services towards the needs of these markets.
• Maintain existing and develop new strong collaborative relationships with customers, delivery partners, suppliers, and key sector stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the broader energy team with a one Frazer-Nash mindset maximising the opportunities available for our organisation through the sector.
• Identify, characterise, influence and capture opportunities to deliver order targets.
• Develop and coordinate campaign plans to deliver quote, order, and profitability targets.
• Work with technical teams and delivery partners to develop compelling proposals to win work.
• Support internal delivery and maintain excellent customer relations, quality, programmes, and profitability across a portfolio of projects.

About You

To be suitable for the role, you will be able to step back and think strategically about the sector and identify how to shape, regulate, and enable innovation in this emerging sector, through independent engineering and consultancy services to clients. You must also be able to meet the following minimum requirements:

• A background in the nuclear sector including either experience in, or demonstrable understanding of, a consultancy environment.
• Strong customer relationship management skills, an established set of contacts and a good reputation in the client community.
• An established track record of strategic thinking, business development, capture planning and delivery in a relevant environment.
• Ability to quickly grasp technical problems, understand our clients’ requirements, propose solutions, and turn them into winning proposals.
• Proven track record in beating sales orders targets and the development of profitable sustainable business streams.
• Commercial awareness and the capability to provide guidance on bids and projects.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate individuals and teams across the business.

The Business Manager role will require travel to meet with clients. List of UK offices: Dorking (Leatherhead), Bristol, Burton-on-Trent, Dorchester, Glasgow, Gloucester, Middlesbrough, Plymouth, Warrington.
