MEDICAL RECORDS CLERK/RESIDENT APPOINTMENT SCHEDULER

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following, other duties may be assigned.
Summary: The medical records clerk assists the RNAC in the maintenance of the resident’s medical records in accordance with facility and long-term care regulations. The medical records clerk also schedules resident medical appointments and schedules transportation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Filing of resident’s medical records in appropriate format
Thinning of resident’s current medical record
Photocopying forms
Faxing forms
Placing returned signed physician orders on resident’s current medical record
Reminds responsible parties of upcoming resident appointments
Schedules resident medical appointments as requested by the charge nurses
Follows up on resident appointments by checking charts for progress notes/test results from visits and contacting physician offices for missing s
Checks assigned charts on nursing units for physician compliance with regulatory guidelines
Attends Interdisciplinary Team Meetings and updates resident care cards
Completes feeding assistant training and assists in feeding of residents as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret general business forms. Ability to write routine correspondence and memos. Ability to speak effectively to individuals and small groups. Ability to communicate via telephone.
Special Requirements
Good interpersonal skills – treats residents, families/visitors and co-workers with courtesy.
Must conform to established work hours and maintain an acceptable work attendance record.
