Talent Development Specialist – Eastbourne – 12 month FTC

This role will cover acquisition and support of our early careers, plus L&D support for the site. They will ensure that PC Eastbourne’s skills gaps are managed by the continuing supply of emerging talent from our Early Careers cohorts. As the resident L&D Specialist they will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of learning and development initiatives such as management development programmes, performance management initiatives, core and functional competency training programmes and talent management programmes.

Responsibilities include

• Early careers
  • Plan, manage and review the emerging talent development strategy for Eastbourne
  • Drive a consistent and exemplary candidate experience, covering the full candidate lifecycle (attraction, recruitment, onboarding and retention) across all of the early career programmes
  • Develop effective strategies for identifying skills gaps within the workforce, developing solutions and strategies to address these.
  • Anticipating the organisations future and working with the SLT to advise on recruiting tactics to ensure that our early careers and emerging talent offer is aligned to department priorities and workforce plans and to ensure the provision genuinely adds value and will help to sustain the company’s success.
  • Support managers to understand their day-to-day operational role in line managing early careers employees.
  • Working in partnership with training providers to ensure that learners are supported effectively in accordance with learning agreements and business requirements to deliver results on time and to an excellent standard.
  • Design, maintain, and manage rotational plans
  • Manage the formal mentoring system for those in early career roles
• L & D
  • Responsible for researching best practice, supporting design, development and implementation within PC Eastbourne to deliver key development initiatives i.e. management development, performance management and high potential development programmes.
  • Work with the HR Manager UK PC’s to develop a Learning & Development framework that improves performance and capability, driving employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensure that learning is delivered in a way that incorporates different learning approaches from digital execution, classroom based training and basic communication.
  • Strong collaboration with Divisional L&D Specialists, HR Manager UK PC‘s and line managers to support them in identifying learning needs through to effective execution and implementation.
  • Specifically develop a solution for the front-line manager population to upskill entry level managers and supervisors to provide the capability to fulfil their managerial responsibilities effectively.
  • Develop and grow competences across managers and leaders from entry level through to mid/senior management to meet business expectations.

Key Skills/Academic Qualifications/Experience

• Good up-to-date knowledge of employment law relating to those in early career
• Working knowledge and experience of the Apprentice Levy
• Excellent understanding of the education system and knowledge routes
• Able to lead, manage and drive projects successfully
• Good understanding of the Learning and Development cycle
• Training design and delivery skills
• Support managers with the apprentices/graduates they line manage
