Labertouche Primary School is a small rural school in West Gippsland, within a 10-15 minute drive from Drouin and Longwarry and 5 minutes off the Princes Highway. Current student enrolment is 50 for 2022, with a class structure of Grade Prep-1, Grade 1-2, and Grade 3-6. Labertouche draws students from our district, neighbouring towns and surrounding areas.
Set on approximately 5 acres with beautiful surroundings and a vast array of natural wildlife. We have an extensive vegetable patch maintained by students, where produce grown is used in our fortnightly cooking class. We have extensive facilities including indoor sandpit, multi-purpose football oval, synthetically surfaced basketball court, undercover area and a playground catering for both junior and senior students. Inside, we have a functional student kitchen set up with four complete stations that our students use on a regular basis to cook and create wonderful and healthy meals. We also have a designated art space, spacious classrooms, and a well-stocked library.
At Labertouche Primary we believe that connection is the key to everyone achieving their full potential.
Labertouche Primary School has four values, which reflect the community and school beliefs, and when connected, create the climate for everyone to achieve their full potential:
LEARN: we strive for success by trying our best.
CARE: we value our self and others by providing a safe and inclusive school environment.
RESPECT: we respect others and treat people fairly and equally.
SHARE: we share ideas and opinions, include others and accept that all individuals are unique.
These values form part of our behavioural expectations and are explicitly taught to the students. The school community perceives these values as necessary skills for success in life; and that these four values form the basis of a safe and supportive learning environment. Labertouche Primary acknowledges that the behaviour of staff, parents, carers and students has an impact on our school community and culture. We acknowledge a shared responsibility to create a positive learning environment for the children and young people at our school.
The most important thing Labertouche Primary School offers our staff and school families is a sense of belonging and community. Our little school cares for one another, we look after each other, and we work together to ensure we can all reach our potential. Our school values are Learn, Care, Share and Respect. In our school we live these values every day, and our boutique size means all children can be seen, known and celebrated.
