Media Software Engineer

This role is open to Media Tech Graduates as well as Expereiced Media Engineers – we can look to offer remote or hybrid options dependant on support and training needs.

About the role:

We have a number of projects where we have to build specific sample test streams to requirements defined by our test coverage and the relevant specifications (DVB, HbbTV, ATSC 3.0) which are usually MPEG-DASH file based, but also some DVB TS files.

The work would be a range of stream production tasks, for these projects, including handling some issue reports where there may be bugs in existing material that needs to be corrected, and getting new material built and through an internal and external validation process.

The role

• Shape the design of testing solutions and demonstrate a sense of ownership while collaborating with others
• Design, develop and update and improve our media creation toolchain and internal capability to serve up test materials for our products and customers
• Contribute to international organisations and standards development, particularly in testability and clarifying ambiguity
• Contribute to the global success of leading technology deployments, e.g., ATSC 3.0 “NEXTGEN TV” in the U.S. and Hybrid Broadcast Broadband (HbbTV) in Europe
• Mentor and develop our team with your unique expertise and experience and ensure quality is core to all we do in reviewing and checking our work

Qualifications

• Ability to critically analyse international technical media and broadcast standards and help contribute to discussions ensuring they are testable
• Knowledge of agile software development experience (preferably Python, but competence in 1 high level language is sufficient) to help translate designs into products
• Experience or awareness of media standards (such as DASH, DVB, MPEG) and/or media tools (such as FFMPEG, GPAC)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £40,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
