The Student Life Directorate adopts a whole of institution, evidence-based approach to build a sense of belonging and to ensure students’ needs are met holistically across the student lifecycle. Student Life service teams will deliver a successful student experience that focuses on providing high quality support services for retention, employability and personalised support for student success.

The Student Transitions and Employability team has a pivotal role in coordinating and implementing initiatives that engage students in their studies and university life and preparing them for employment. This team has responsibility for planning and implementing evidence-based, and benchmarked activities including careers and employability preparation, and transition activities. Collaboration across all University student service points is a major requirement, as is the implementation of a seamless student experience strategy alongside excellent customer service standards.

The Role

The Student Transitions and Employability Officer is responsible for undertaking a range of tasks and activities designed to provide comprehensive student transition events enhancing the ECU student experience, as well as implementing programs aimed at engaging students in their studies and broader university life.

The Student Transitions and Employability Officer will be required to work with a range of ECU stakeholders to promote, utilise and support the Customer Experience Strategy ensuring that all team members have a customer focused view and a whole-of-organisation approach when conducting day-to-day business.

Key Criteria

• A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Communications, Project Management, Event Planning) with subsequent experience OR an equivalent level of frontline support service expertise gained from a combination of experience and training in implementing initiatives and organising and delivery of events;
• Ability to meet deadlines;
• Ability to organise and present information, views and concepts in a concise, understandable and interesting format for a variety of audiences, from the university’s internal and external communities;
• Building rapport and forming positive working relationships with all internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders/communities; and
• Ability to investigate, identify and analyse key issues and the associated alternative, benefits and costs to develop practical solutions;
• Ability to work as part of a team.

A work history incorporating event planning and project management would be advantageous.

Benefits & Remuneration

This ongoing, full-time position attracts a remuneration of $73,257 to $81,404 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
