The Role

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic and inspirational classical brass lecturers and performers to lead the ongoing development of the classical brass program at WAAPA. Joining WAAPA as an ongoing lecturer, the successful applicant/s will deliver high quality academic and technical guidance to our brass and orchestral students, contribute to the teaching and learning outcomes across the music discipline, and work as an integral part of the WAAPA Music team. Opportunity may arise in future for this position to increase in FTE, subject to teaching demand and operational requirements.

The key responsibilities of the position include:
Inspiring students through the delivery of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, individual lessons and studio sessions to VET, HE and HD students

Engaging with the orchestral program at WAAPA Music

Preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars, including the production of teaching materials

Marking, assessment and consultation with students

Unit coordination

Identifying and implementing student recruitment initiatives

Engaging with university software and systems to meet administrative and teaching and learning requirements.

:

PhD, Masters degree, or equivalent industry experience in the field

Ability to coordinate, develop and teach units at both undergraduate and postgraduate level

Commitment to and demonstrated achievement of excellence in teaching

Ability to engage with community and industry to enhance teaching and learning within the department

Demonstrated performance ability, and portfolio of recordings or other creative original works

VET qualifications will need to be attained prior to commencement (CERT IV TAE)

Benefits & Remuneration

This role is being offered as a part-time (0.3 FTE), ongoing position, and attracts a remuneration of $$75,193 to $100,797 (pro-rata for part-time) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
