The Finance Industrial Placement Programme:

Join our Industrial Placement programme, working as part of our Finance team on the unique and exciting Hinkley Point C project, and you’ll contribute to EDF’s ambition to help Britain achieve Net Zero.

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low-carbon electricity for around six million homes, 7% of the country’s total electricity needs helping Britain achieve net-zero.

As part of the Financial Control team you’ll provide analytical support that enables the team to provide challenge, assurance and reporting of financial performance to present a single version of the truth to the HPC leadership and external stakeholders.

Training, development and support for you

Over this 12-month programme, you’ll have exposure to multiple teams across the business. You’ll develop skills using Microsoft Office, Anaplan, SAP (accounting software) and gain an understanding of key finance principles and how they are applied in practice. You’ll also develop your problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as gain an understanding of the financial issues faced on a large construction project.

For an idea of the type of work you could do, recent students have:

• Supported the delivery and presentation of timely, accurate and relevant management information, including actual and forecast P&L and investment.
• Supported the facilitation of budgets, accruals, recoveries, investment proposals and reporting.
• Assisted in investigating and resolving payment issues, identifying process improvements and ensuring an effective working with HPC Commercial and Centre of Excellence.
• Supported project and programme managers with investment appraisal, in compliance with the EDF financial procedures.

Where you’ll work

This placement is available at one of our offices: either Aztec West in Bristol or one of the Satellite Delivery Centres closer to site in Bridgwater.

What you’ll need to apply

• On track to achieve or will have already achieved a 2:1 undergraduate degree or 2:2 postgraduate qualification in disciplines such as Finance, Maths, Business, Economics, but other disciplines will be considered if they contain Finance modules.
• Self-motivated and analytical
• Desire to learn and develop your skills
