Group Assistant Accountant

Overview of Role:

Reporting to the Group Financial Accountant within the Financial Reporting and Control team, this role offers the opportunity for involvement in both financial and management accounts.

Key tasks will include:

• Review of balance sheets and cash flows in the monthly management accounts for all Group entities, providing relevant analysis and commentary.
• Review of the monthly Group consolidation and associated accounting requirements, including reconciliation of intercompany balances.
• Assistance in the preparation, analysis and commentary for monthly board slides.
• Assistance in the preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with the latest regulatory standards for both the Group and its subsidiaries.
• Supporting the Group Financial Accountant with the Group’s external audit process and providing any relevant supporting schedules.
• Monitoring and reconciling balance sheet accounts, conducting monthly reviews and ensuring compliance to ensure accurate reporting and appropriate controls are in place.
• Assistance in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts as required.
• Preparation of external regulatory submissions.
• Preparation of quarterly corporation tax analysis.
• Identification and implementation of improvements to reporting.
• Ad-hoc projects.
• Liaison with both internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining strong working relationships.
• Delivering on personal objectives, standards and targets.
• Contributing to the delivery of the Finance team’s objectives, standards and targets.
• Adherence to legislative and regulatory requirements, including data protection.

What you can bring to the role:

• Part Qualified (CIMA/ACCA).
• Technically astute, with the ability to apply technical accounting knowledge to practical situations.
• Strong Excel skills
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise and communicate effectively at all levels across the business including Senior Management.
• Innovative and solution focused with the ability to work to tight deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Highly proficient influencing skills
• Knowledge of finance systems (Proclaim, Sage)
