TITLE: ACCOUNTING MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Accounting Manager will oversee the department and staff responsible for accurate and timely processing of all transactions related to accounts payable and receivables. A successful accounting manager is committed to providing outstanding service to all business partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Able to meet or exceed department productivity goals related to receivables and payable transactions.
· Perform collections calls with all customers as necessary to ensure that monthly cashflow goals are met.
· Work collaboratively with carriers and staff to secure all proof of delivery documentation within 48 hours of delivery.
· Apply problem-solving and research skills to correct discrepancies in accounts or billings.
· Pull, analyze, and organize data required to produce accurate daily reports.
· Complete cash application and actively manage receivables aging.
· Complete weekly accounts payable check run.
· Calculate bi-weekly agent commissions.
· Resolve payment discrepancies resulting from over or short payments.
· Contribute to the preparation of the annual company budget.
· Provide daily direction, oversight, and workflow oversight for accounting staff members.
· Organize meetings to communicate information and guidance, and to review policies, procedures, and best practices.
· Hire, schedule, train and retain on-site department staff members.
· Take prompt corrective action, while keeping immediate supervisor proactively and fully informed.
· Meet or exceed goals for expected behaviors. Maintain a respectful, positive working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.

· Operate in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
· Meet physical demands for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, include sitting or standing for long periods of time during the workday, close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus, plus ability to clearly speak and hear both in person and over the telephone. Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel, type on a computer and telephone; and reach with hands and arms.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has direct supervisory responsibility.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time, exempt position, with hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is understood that this position must be responsive to needs after hours or on weekends.
TRAVEL
Less than 5% travel is expected for this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Three years or more of direct accounting experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in transportation or logistics industry.
