We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to help our busy accounting office operate more efficiently. Accounting degree or experience needed. Looking for long-term employee interested in working for third generation family owned and operated small business. Goal would be to work toward filling in for Accounting Clerk and Office Manager when needed.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile inventory invoices and identify discrepancies for 6 business locations
• Assist in preparing payroll and direct deposit
• Assist in balancing company checkbooks
• Updating and maintaining various spreadsheets
• Assist in preparing and submitting State sales tax in 3 States
• Learning jobs of others in office as needed

Skills

• Work experience as an Accounting Assistant or Accounting Clerk
• Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures
• Familiarity with payroll and payroll taxes
• Good math skills, accuracy, and the ability to spot errors
• Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software (will train on industry software)
• Organization skills, problem solving skills, communication skills
• Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
• Able to pass background check and drug test
• Have valid drivers license and reliable transportation
