Graduate Software Engineer
Leading industrial automation engineering group that is rapidly expanding immediately require a Graduate Software Engineer located at the head office in Llanelli.
The company is a highly respected provider of innovative industrial automation, testing and controls technology solutions with blue chip clients throughout the UK and EU. Bespoke solutions for the automation of manual production processes are both designed and manufactured by the company so the environment is one of design, engineering and manufacturing excellence as well as total customer service.
Role and Responsibilities
As a member of a highly motivated, dynamic and multi-disciplined team, you will design and develop world-class automation solutions. Duties involve design of control software, integration of software with electrical and mechanical systems, process development and machine installation at customer sites worldwide.
· Design and develop software programs (PLC based) specific to customer and project requirements
· Debug and commission control systems at our facility, during the system integration stage and then at the customer’s site during installation
· Travel as required to customer and supplier sites to perform installation, commissioning and training duties
· Test and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analogue devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems and lasers
· Work with other members of the control systems design department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, with the goals being enhanced safety, enhanced functionality and reduced cost
· Provide thorough testing of machine functionality to verify software program completeness
· Provide accurate documentation for each project
· Advise customer on solving technical problems
· Provide customer with training specific to their current project (i.e., machine operation, programming principles and program structure)
Candidate Specification:
· Engineering degree specialising in electrical, systems or computer engineering
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
· A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent attention to detail and highly organised, with a can-do approach and the ability to manage conflicting demands in a wide variety of tasks and functions
· Excellent people skills and work ethic
