EBCO Industries Hiring for Manual Machinist Lathe at Richmond, BC Full Time

Ebco Industries Ltd. is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist Lathe who can machine to tight tolerance. As a Machinist in our Heavy Machine Shop, your role is critical to the reputation that Ebco has built for delivering world-class quality manufacturing and repair/ rebuild services to projects based domestically and worldwide. You will set up and operate conventional machines to produce ferrous and non-ferrous parts.

KEY DUTIES

• Reading blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine; dimensions and tolerances on finished work pieces, the sequence of operations and set-up requirements.
• Measuring, marking and scribing dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides for subsequent machining.
• Selecting, aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines such as; mills, lathes and vertical lathes.
• Calculating and setting controls to regulate machining factors such as; speed, feed, coolant flow and depth, and angle of cut.
• Verifying conformance of finished work pieces to specifications and reporting any non-conformance to Quality Control and Area Supervisor.
• Communicating with Engineers, Production, Programmers and/or others to resolve machining issues.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Basic math skills such as; adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints, drawings and sketches and required tolerances and specifications.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English – writing, reading and speaking.
• Must be able to use all equipment safely.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Red Seal Trades Certification, or willingness to challenge the Red Seal.
• At least 5 years experience working on a manual Lathe in a machine shop.
• Proven record in the machining industry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This is a physically demanding position requiring a person to lift or move 50 – 100 lbs
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts in a moderately noisy environment
• Must be willing to accommodate flexible working schedules, including shift work.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
• Must work well in a team environment
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
