Job Summary

This role is for a graduate software engineer working for a mix of products ranging from low volume, high value rugged industrial workstations, to high volume intrinsically safe isolators/barriers. The ideal candidate will have experience of both embedded software (eg FreeRTOS) development and PC applications. Knowledge of Azure based cloud development and/or Andoid/iOS apps (React Native) would also be beneficial.

The role will predominantly involve writing ‘C’ based code, with some ‘C++’. Useful experience would include:

• Knowledge of SCM tools such as SVN and git.
• Experience of unit testing and continuous integration methodologies
• Application of microprocessors/microcontrollers in embedded applications

Job Responsibilities

• Development and sustaining of a diverse range of products.
• Active participation in a culture of continuous improvement to ensure good quality product meeting cost and time-to-market objectives. An understanding of the principles of Six-Sigma would be valuable.
• Active involvement in the development and review of product designs.
• Ability to write clear and unambiguous process and product documentation.
• Demonstration of excellent problem-solving skills.
• Adoption of best practices.
• Support concept/bids phase evaluation of projects with respect to task identification/estimation.
• Participation in the definition of product roadmaps.
• Maintaining an awareness of current industry trends to make best use of emerging technologies.
• Ensuring that software is designed and tested to meet product requirements. This will include regression testing and liaising with test software developers.
