The Eastern Shore Public Library is seeking a dynamic Youth Services Librarian to provide services in the new regional library opening in Fall 2022 in Parksley, Virginia. This librarian will have a high impact on the culture of literacy in a beautiful, rural waterside community. The successful candidate will present early literacy curriculum-based programs, provide high quality school-age programming some of which is STEAM related, provide reader’s advisory, technology literacy, and outreach programs to children, teens and their caregivers, and implement collection management for juvenile and young adult collections. The Youth Services Librarian will partner with area youth and family service providers to coordinate literacy and learning initiatives.
The Eastern Shore of Virginia is a beautiful, coastal community located on the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula. While close to major metropolitan areas, it maintains a unique rural culture woven into the natural and historic environs. The Shore is home to some of the oldest Virginia families as well as many recent Mexican, Guatemalan, and Haitian immigrants providing a diverse population with literacy challenges. The position is full-time at 40 hours per week and includes health insurance, sick and vacation, and enrollment in the Virginia Retirement System. Minimum salary is $35,000. A Virginia Public
