East Tennessee State University Hiring for Career Coach at Chattanooga, TN Full Time

East Tennessee State University’s Center for Community Outreach – Career Coach Position available in Chattanooga to cover the Southeast Counties of: Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea and Sequatchie – Level 7 Administrative – Position Contingent upon Grant Funding.

Essential Functions: The successful applicant will serve as an employment readiness and retention specialist for Families First (TANF) clients. Essential job duties include case managing clients, determining barriers to employment, assisting clients in removing those barriers and applying the Two Generation Approach to clients and their families. Ability to lead classes in job readiness and life skills. Have knowledge of educational and training sites and their admission requirements. Needs to be familiar with the local job market and have the ability to develop professional relationships with employers. Data entry is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required. The successful applicant must be capable of working with people having a wide range of abilities and competencies. The successful applicant(s) must be willing to cover other counties in the event of the absence of a Career Coach in another county. Additionally, successful applicants may be assigned to more than one county.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in business, personnel, social service or social science field or three (3) years’ experience in a social service/social science related field. Ability to communicate effectively and to work in a detail oriented environment required.
