An exciting opportunity has arisen within East Sussex County Council to work for the East Sussex Pension Fund (the Fund) as a Pensions Accounts Assistant. You would be working for a leading Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Fund within a dedicated and dynamic team of specialists.

The Council is the Scheme manager for the East Sussex Pension Fund which administers the pensions for over 78,000 members across 130 employers within the County. The Pension Fund is valued at £4.5bn and has a wide range of investments to ensure the financial security for our members’ pensions.
Your new role
You will be responsible for carrying out several reconciliations and accounting functions to ensure the accuracy of financial information held.
Processing and reconcile the pension contributions received by the Fund each month from its 130 employers.
Ensuring that statutory deadlines are being complied with, required forms are completed on time, amounts paid over match the remittance advice, performing validation checks on the information provided. This process requires you to support the Fund employers in meeting their requirements and following escalation procedures to report any noncompliance and potentially issuing fines.
Ensuring that correct financial controls are followed in the payment and creation of invoices on behalf of the Fund.
You will support the implementation of i-connect and the onboarding of new employers onto the system to further enhance the information received from employer in relation to contributions and other data essential for the calculation of pension benefits.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will be looking to develop your accounting skills and looking to study towards AAT qualification. You will have good communication skills as you will be working with various internal and external stakeholders. You do not need experience of working within Pensions, but ideally you will come from a finance background.

This role will be based on flexible working with some meetings in the Lewes office or at external stakeholder offices. The salary starts at £20,043 with excellent benefits including a generous defined benefit pension (Local Government Pension Scheme), discounts to a range of services such as technology, shopping, days out, gym membership as well as a bike scheme. The holiday entitlement starts at 22 days with 2 extra days for use around Christmas. East Sussex County Council will fund AAT training under the apprenticeship scheme where 20% of your working hours assigned for study.

The contract base is in County Hall, Lewes, but the role will be a hybrid of office and home-based work with flexibility catering to your needs and preferences.

Additional Information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
