If you are looking to start a career or get your first job have you considered a career in Human Resources? It is a rewarding and interesting profession where you can make a difference to people’s working lives and develop a variety of different skills.
We are seeking a HR Apprentice to join the Human Resources team. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to start a career in Human Resources and gain work experience whilst studying for a qualification in an interesting local government organisation that employs more than 10,000 people to provide vital services to the residents of East Sussex.
You would be studying a Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management, run by GBMet in Brighton who are responsible for supporting you with your learning and carrying out assessments. Your work experience will be linked to the modules and units in your course so that you’ll get wide experience across the whole HR team. You will receive additional support from a nominated mentor, throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship.
Suitability for the apprenticeship programme is dependent on the candidate not already holding a qualification at an equivalent or higher level in the same or closely related subject.
About the Role
As an apprentice you will learn about the role HR has within the Council and gain an understanding of all HR disciplines, including policy, employment relations, organisational development, data analytics, health and safety and in particular recruitment and pay and reward.
You will have the opportunity to learn about employment law in a work setting and learn to support managers to resolve employment issues through the application of consistent and effective advice.
Your primary focus will be to assist in recruitment, pay and reward projects and policy development work. You will learn to collate and analyse data, present information to managers to support them to make informed decisions, undertake research on best practice and innovation and assist with the implementation of new processes.
We are looking for someone who is committed to their learning and personal development and who has an interest in human resources and data analytics. No prior work experience is necessary. If you are interested in applying you can submit an application which tells us how you meet the essential criteria for the role which are set out in the attached job description.
The duration of the apprenticeship will be 24 months. If you are still in education and looking to start a role after your studies have completed, we could consider a later start date, around July. Please note, your application may be shared with the training provider.
What can we offer you?
The post is based at County Hall in Lewes, East Sussex, but with flexibility for regular weekly home working as part of a hybrid working model. Due to the ongoing pandemic, it is expected that this role will be undertaken exclusively from home initially.
