East Side Clinical Labs , a division of Sonic Healthcare USA, has an excellent opportunity for a Staff Accountant in our Providence, RI office.

The Staff Accountant handles various aspects of accounting for the Organization. As such., s/he has a direct responsibility for maintaining general ledger accounts, administering and processing Accounts Payable, working with Billing staff to assist with the administer of billing/collections, preparing journal entries and posting to the General Ledger, cash accounting including receipts and bank reconciliation, and producing various accounting and financial reports. This role also perform administrative duties, such as maintaining schedules, providing telephone support, filing, transcription and the production of forms as well as assisting/supporting the Senior Accountant and the Chief Financial Officer.

Essential Job Duties:

• Accounts Payable entry and processing, vendor payments/check production, mailing of payments, vendor account reconciliations, etc.
• Assist Senior Accountant with month-end close procedures, including necessary reconciliations, expense accruals and other adjustments. This includes preparation and posting of certain month-end journal entries.
• Assist with reconciliation of all bank accounts, and preparation of related journal entries
• Assists the Sr. Accountant in responding to auditors’ inquiries.
• Assist management as needed with gathering/analyzing data, conducting research, and preparing special reports upon request.
• Prepare mailings and priority shipments for the Finance/Accounting Department.
• Prepare correspondence as needed within the department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Business administration, or a related field
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in accounting and finance
• Strong expertise with accounting software (Great Plains is preferred) and Microsoft Excel
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain confidentiality
• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to working with a diverse staff

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

• Experience with other Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook & Access is a plus
