East Riding of Yorkshire Council Hiring for Education Welfare Officer Job at Beverley, England Full Time

Following the recent retirement of an officer within the team, a part time, term time, permanent post has become vacant within the education welfare service.
The successful candidate will be required to work and travel across the East Riding of Yorkshire area, alongside working remotely when appropriate. We are looking for someone who has the ability and personality to develop positive and supportive relationships with schools, pupils and parents and be confident in representing the Education Welfare Service.
A relevant degree level qualification, previous employment experience with families and children in a multi-agency setting and ability to manage sensitive issues is essential, as is a general understanding of education welfare service roles and responsibilities as set out within the job outline.
The service undertakes the Council’s statutory duty to ensure all pupils of compulsory school age have access to a suitable and efficient education. This includes enforcing instances of irregular school attendance when necessary. The service also undertakes the local authority’s statutory duties in relation to children missing education, elective home education, the employment of children and issues licences for those children who take part in entertainment performances.
You will need; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; casework management skills; the ability to undertake assessments, prepare and present reports in meetings and in the Magistrates’ Court.
