Job Summary

The Education Specialist position involves partnering with the teachers (K-8) and the parents in constructing strategies and IEP’s for struggling students and for students who are gifted and need to be challenged further. The Education Specialist will be able to identify, assess, and report on academic needs, as well as, provide a plan to bridge gaps and build on successes.

Required Qualifications

• BA or BS from an accredited college or university (Education field, ESE, Special Ed)
• MS or MA from an accredited college or university (Curriculum, Instruction, Reading, Leadership)
• Preferred minimum of 3-5 years of experience

Essential Job Functions

It is expected that the Education Specialist will…

• Design and create student intervention plans.
• Effectively communicate feedback concerning the expectation of achievement with respect to learning goals
• Complete attendance records, portfolio of work samples, and assignment and work reports for each student
• Develop and implement academic interventions using research based methodology in reading and/or math.
• Communicate with school personnel regarding reading and/or math level and rate of progress of individual students.
• Differentiate instruction based on assessment data.
• Document interventions and progress on each child with whom you support.
• Guiding and monitoring the progress of each child the Interventionist is responsible for servicing.
• Participate in team reviews concerning academic progress for students who are struggling or are in need of services.
• Analyze pre and post-assessment data.
• Provide small group instruction.
• Provide accommodations to students.
• Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of each student to ensure success.
• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
• Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
• Administer informal and formal assessments.
• Evaluate and assess student progress against instructional objectives.
• Possess highly effective communication skills with both adults and students.
• Manage classroom organization.
• Perform duties as assigned.

• Motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and understanding needed to set a good foundation for secondary level education, in accordance with each student’s ability
• Maintain professional, cordial relationships with students, parents, and staff
• Monitor children in learning environments
• Use good judgment in making reasonable decisions or recommendations in conjunction with other staff members and/or administrative leadership
• Solve problems and take responsibility for a variety of situations in a reasonable manner where only limited standardization exists
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Provide leadership to students during actual emergencies, following the site emergency preparedness plan
• For fire, earthquake and other types of emergencies provide clear and calm verbal directions as acquired from safety professional development
• Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism.
• Understand the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality in the operation of the classroom and school.
• Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with courtesy, patience, friendliness, dignity, respect, and a good sense of humor.

• Use acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speak with clear articulation.

Salary: $35,000

Paid Time Off: 72 hours for full-time

Employer pays 100% of either Dental and Vision Insurance

Student (K-12) Tuition and Registration 100% covered by Employer.

Pay: $37,000.00 – $42,000.00 per year
