Eagle Builders LP Hiring for Safety Coordinator – Precast Manufacturing Plant at Blackfalds, AB Full Time

Position Summary

Established in 2000, Eagle Builders is a family-owned and operated company, located in Blackfalds Alberta. We are leaders in precast concrete and proudly serve all over Western Canada. We manufacture precast for industrial, commercial, agricultural, and civil infrastructure and have built an outstanding name in the construction industry. Our dedicated team has grown to 400+ full-time employees.

Our precast manufacturing plant is rapidly expanding and ramping up production. We have the opportunity for an intermediate safety professional who is eager to build on their comprehensive expertise to prevent workplace accidents, promote health and safety awareness, and educate fellow employees.

Reporting to the Safety Manager, the position will be responsible for making sure that employees follow health and safety laws, company safety policies, and procedures for a safer work environment within the precast manufacturing shop. Must hold a valid NCSO or working towards completion, WHMIS train the trainer, Standard First Aid, and Leadership of Safety Excellence.

Job Descriptions

• New hire orientations, train new workers in WHMIS and company requirements.
• Complete inspections daily and monthly, visual and documented of the manufacturing shop facility and yard.
• Keep updated and current with all aspects of safety legislation, news, and industry practices.
• Ensure all documentation is properly completed and accurate for the work being done.
• Supervision of all workers on a daily basis to correct unsafe acts and ensure safety conscience attitudes and work.
• Ensure maintenance schedules are met for all heavy equipment, machines, and tools to ensure they are running properly to minimize downtime, costly maintenance and prevent unexpected incidents.
• Conduct safety/toolbox meetings to increase awareness on specific safety hazards and processes.
• Ensure first aid is available as per legislative requirements and kits are in stock, as well as fire extinguishers readily available and in working condition.
• Investigation and follow-up of all incidents, first aid recorders and near-misses. Ensure accurate reporting to management and implementation of corrective actions.

Assets

• Experience working in a production/manufacturing environment
• Previously held a safety-related position
• Understanding of SiteDocs or related safety software
• Knowledge of OH&S, WHMIS, WCB, and related safety legislation

Requirements

• NCSO designation or working towards completion
• WHMIS train the trainer
• Standard First Aid
• Leadership of Safety Excellence

• Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety

• Must be available to work Monday to Friday and the occasional Saturday
• Minimum 44-50 hours per week, must be flexible and willing to work overtime
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with the attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain effective work relationships
• Outstanding organization skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Must be local or willing to relocate to the Blackfalds/Red Deer area
