Position Summary

This position of Assistant Accountant will involve supporting the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager servicing the entire APAC region, with the head office for the APAC Finance team in Sydney.

It’s a unique opportunity to touch all areas of the Finance and Accounting function including, managing month-end accounting and reporting activities, budgeting, intercompany accounting, external audits, local regulatory reporting, and tax processes.

This role is suited for someone eager to learn and develop their knowledge, and accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing and providing insights for both P&L and Balance Sheet
• Accountable for month-end journal entries related to all areas of accounting for APAC locations
• Support the budgeting and planning processes
• Contribute to a continuous improvement and lean mindset by identifying and driving initiatives to add value and improve efficiencies in processes
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Manage external professional service firms on the annual audit process and corporate tax returns across the region
• Collaborate across the accounting team to ensure accuracy of accounting entries
• Involved in new accounting system implementation
• Performing other duties as assigned including special projects and analysis on an ad hoc basis
• Build and develop strong internal business partnerships with key stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
• Studying CA/CPA/CIMA (preferable not essential)
• 2+ years’ relevant experience
• Strong knowledge of Accounting principles and processes
• Demonstrates highest level of ability in all aspects of communications: written, oral, listening and expressing ideas
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
• Strong computer skills including Excel and previous exposure to an ERP system
• Pro-active and passionate attitude
• Good problem-solving skills
