Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting with all technical issues and opportunities within the plant using a hands-on approach, as well as directing the maintenance group to support uninterrupted, efficient production. Additionally, responsible for ensuring all equipment is maintained in reliable, safe and efficient operating condition.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Acting as a key technical resource to all levels of the organization, providing knowledgeable support when mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical issues arise;
• Training employees on the use, maintenance and troubleshooting of die cast machines, robots and other equipment;
• Developing and mentoring a group of technical and trades staff to foster teamwork and encourage skills development;
• Ensuring issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner, instilling a sense of urgency in team members while prioritizing workload;
• Developing and overseeing PM schedules and other machine maintenance;
• Assisting in recognizing and carrying out continuous improvement projects within the facility;
• Coordinating outside contractors/suppliers, when necessary;
• Regularly communicating with employees to promote trust and create an environment for positive motivation;
• Administering the collective agreement, and taking an active role in settling disputes that may arise;
• Supporting production as required;
• Preparing documentation for capital expenditures; and
• Establishing, monitoring and communicating key performance indicators on a monthly basis.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Supervisor or Manager in a fast-paced manufacturing environment;
• University or College degree in mechanical/electrical or equivalent related fields;
• Advanced level skill and knowledge of the die casting process, machines, dies and fixtures;
• Advanced level skill and knowledge in the safe operation of all standard tool room equipment;
• Proficiency in basic computer applications; and
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical controls and PLC’s.
