We are seeking a driven and analytical Operational Technology Technician that has several years of experience working on systems architecture, machine automation, and machine networking in a manufacturing environment. This role is remote and does require some travel!
The Ideal candidate should be confident in their ability to independently evaluate and document industrial control and automation systems including distributed IO and OPC server/client architecture. Good communication is essential because it will frequently be required to work with site maintenance and engineering teams to analyze, diagnose, and solve technical challenges related to the interconnectivity of machine controllers, HMIs, and windows-based automation.
What will you be doing in this position?
Provide technical assistance and documentation to maintenance and engineering teams for the purpose of troubleshooting manufacturing processes, large-scale system enhancements, and deployments including remote support and configuration
Assess manufacturing systems and develop, implement, and continually improve through software and hardware enhancements
Implement CAPEX projects related to manufacturing system enhancements, data acquisition, and digitalization of production processes
Write processes and procedures relating to systems and processes that will allow local maintenance and engineering teams to operate more autonomously
Support local and regional engineering efforts by acting as a technical resource on projects where system integration or data acquisition is within the scope
Modify existing systems and programmable logic controllers using ladder logic to meet digitization objectives
What skills will make you successful?
This role requires 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
High degree of personal initiative, accountability, and commitment to the execution of enhancement projects while remote and on-site
Strong documentation, project management, and organization skills are vital to this role as you will be writing SOPs, process instructions, step-by-step procedures, training materials, and supporting information to document existing hardware/software for end users and managing the project from beginning to end
Experience documenting network architecture, client/server configurations, and data paths from devices to virtual client/servers is a plus
Experience working within cross-functional teams and participating in IT/OT support/enhancement projects where you had to provide/gather input from multiple business areas to assess requirements for system enhancements, propose hardware/software solutions, and present cost analysis for CAPEX (budgeting) designs, sourcing, installation, and commissioning of enhancements
Experience with OPCUA, MQTT, Thingworx, Kepware, Ignition, and other PTC or Cogent IoT-focused software is a huge plus!
