Drive Products is a National Distributor of truck mounted equipment (TME), and a Canadian Leader in the design and installation of TME systems solutions. Due to growing business in our Ontario operations, Drive Products has an immediate need for the following at our Mississauga location:

Engineering Team Leader

The Engineering Team Leader will be responsible for guiding the engineering team to prepare Top Assembly, detailed technical component drawings and weldments. These drawings will be used by production personnel. The drawings show the technical details of the products and structures, and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures.

Additionally, this position will interact with welding Technicians and Assembly personnel to discuss project specifications and product adjustments. Responsibilities include new and revised product design using Solid Works, AutoCAD Programs. This position requires knowledge of bill of materials (BOM). The Engineering Team Leader will report directly to Engineering Manager, who may assign other duties as required.

Major Responsibilities

• Proposing and managing budgets for projects
• Supervising the work of team
• Planning and executing strategies for completing projects on time
• Researching and developing designs and products
• Determining the need for training and talent development
• Ensuring products have the support of upper management
• Providing clear and concise instructions to engineering team
• Prepare engineering layouts/drawings of the assemblies, processes and parts to be manufactured, and production of 3-D modeling (from concept to manufacturing stage)
• Develop engineering designs from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data
• Participate in engineering new processes, continuous improvement and support of ongoing production activities
• Support the interface between design and manufacturing on new product development
• Produce documentation including test procedures, work instructions, test reports, and other reports and analyses necessary for compliance with relevant standards
• Support production to improve productivity
• Test and inspect machines and equipment and work with engineer to eliminate production problems
• Validate documentation requirements to support new product development
• Participate in training provided
• Compliance with all internal Policy and Procedures including, but not limited to, Health and Safety and Quality Management
• Compliance with all regional legislation including Occupational Health and Safety
• Other duties as required

Qualifications – Educational / Training Requirements

• College diploma or University degree in engineering design and drafting technology, mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Minimum 4 years experience as a CAD Technician in the mechanical engineering field
• Strong Solid Works background years experience with other 3D CAD software

Skills

• Skilled in the use of AutoCAD and Solid Works associated with mechanical drafting
• Hands-on knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Strong knowledge of BOM and drafting techniques
• Sound technical background (hands-on) with logical deductive reasoning approach
• Ability to create preliminary designs or conceptualization of design
• Ability to create freehand sketches / perspectives essential
• Ability to create presentation drawings with perspectives using AutoCAD
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Good oral and written communication skills, with a strong, self-motivated work ethic
• Creative, detail-oriented individual capable of juggling and prioritizing multiple tasks
• High level of personal integrity with a professional demeanor

Working Conditions

• Must have transportation for occasional pickup and delivery samples from local vendors
• Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
• Ability to physically implement designs.
• Overtime as required.
• May be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing.
• May be required to use PPE.
