Location: Hybrid (3 days remote working, 2 days on-site in Hackney, London)

The Tech Stack:

• Linux – Using AWS AMI (CentOS)
• PHP Frameworks – Zend Framework (aka Laminas), Zend Expressive (aka Mezzio), Symfony components
• Caching – varnish for page caching
• Database – MySQL. AWS RDS on production
• Infrastructure – CloudFormation on AWS for our cloud infrastructure. Docker in development environments.
• Frontend – Server-side rendered PHP templates
• Testing – PHPUnit (Unit and Integration Testing), Codeception for API and UI testing
• Queues – Gearman – looking to move to AWS SQS
• CI/CD – CircleCI
• Monitoring – Using DataDog

The Team Size

• 1 main team right now, of 6 engineers.
• The company is actively looking to grow its team right now, and thus split into x2 teams.
• As a Senior Engineer, you’ll naturally be able to progress into Lead Engineer, after the team split

About You:

• You’ll be a passionate Senior Web & Platform Developer who enjoys working within in a small, customer-centric team
• You’ll have strong experience with testing from exploratory, unit to acceptance
• You’ll be collaborative while equally love working independently to solve deep complex code
• You’ll have in-depth experience with security and data protection principles
• You’ll be enthusiastic about mentoring and helping others grow & develop
• You’re ambitious, enjoy constantly learning, and have a growth mindset

The Role

• As a Senior Developer, you’ll guide and influence the technical direction of the team and platform. You’ll be a positive influence and natural leader to other members of the team to drive performance and growth.
• You won’t be afraid of change and will actively identify ways of improving our processes and technology operations.
• You’ll gain expertise in different aspects of the platform and deliver features, assessing the product and technical implications of your changes, creating a flawless customer experience.
• Plan, build, and deliver features and platform improvements across our whole stack and infrastructure
• Identify areas of improvement within our processes to drive operational efficiency
• Collaborating with leaders across the Technology Team to ensure work from our team is to a high standard, secure, and well tested
• Providing mentorship and learning opportunities for developers across the team
• Becoming an expert on our platform to drive future roadmap development
