The Opportunity

The Customer & Operations Service Specialist is responsible in supporting the new logistics division of DP World Canada with customer service & operational support. The role will organize transportation with a close focus on ocean and road freight.

This position is full-time.

In this role, you will:
Organizing of transportation with close focus on Ocean freight and road freight

Create files, arrange for pickup and obtain shipment documentation necessary for domestic/international transportation, liaison between parties to provide status updates.

Follow appropriate work instructions or checklist to create consistency and minimize errors.

Enter shipment and bookings details into CargoWise 1 or other approved freight forwarding platforms in a timely and accurately, submit all required documentation from the system (i.e. Master, AES, ACI, EDI, Booking confirmations, etc.) and create invoices.

Use approved external providers as necessary to arrange transportation of goods, and resolve any miscommunication and disputes to ensure safe on-time deliveries in a timely manner.

Coordinate pricing and prepare quotations to customers.

Ensure safe transport execution in line with official requirements.

What you bring to the role:
A degree in business, logistics or similar field is preferred, combined with at least 2 years’ experience in freight forwarding industry, and ocean and road freight.

A certificate in CIFFA is preferred

Knowledge of the CargoWise1 or other Freight Forwarding platforms is considered a strong asset

Fluent in English

Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries

Strong commitment to client service excellence with the ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships across all levels and functional areas of an organization

Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Understanding of Canadian import and export regulations, such as E-Manifest and B13

A willingness to take initiative to solve problems and a desire to identify process improvements.

Knowledge and experience with MS Office applications combined with the proven ability to learn new systems quickly

Ability to communicate clear and concise information in an accurate and informative manner to clients, vendors, carriers and other forwarders

Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills, with attention to detail so that workflow is managed efficiently and accurately.

Handle shipments from open to close. Must be able to handle the day-to-day operational activities and close out the file in accounting
