Position summary

About Downer:
Downer Rail and Transit Systems (RTS) is committed to providing the highest quality of Rollingstock & Overhaul services. Our capability allows us to offer turnkey solutions for complex projects and spans every project phase, from design and manufacture to through-life-support (TLS), condition monitoring and data analytics, fleet maintenance, operations and comprehensive overhaul of assets. RTS have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Finance Analyst to join the Contract and Operations Finance team.

About the role:
You will partner with RTS – NSW/QLD/VIC business units by providing analytical support and business insights. This role will support Commercial Finance Managers and Operation management across NSW, VIC and QLD in decision support, planning, operational performance management and formulation, implementation and execution of business strategies. You will oversee the Forecast Cost At Completion models (FCAC) across the project streams and ensuring appropriate controls are in place. This role, in particular, develops and leads the FCAC update and review process for the QLD projects.

This is a full-time permanent position based in Melbourne and reporting to the Manager – Projects & Operations Analysis.

Key accountabilities:
Business partnering through providing modelling and analytical support for the team.

A continued focus on project revenue recognition, project costs, aged debtors, WIP profile, project variations and margin management.

Ensure general compliance with accounting standards, tax laws regulations and all compliance reporting.

A continuous focus on commerciality with a view to maximise revenue and cost-out opportunities.

Development of financial and analytical models to support decision making.

About You:
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent.

CA / CPA or similar qualification (CFA would be advantageous).

At least 4-5 years’ experience in commercial / business partnering in a commercial organisation or an accountancy firm working with medium to large professional organisations.

Advanced MS Excel modelling skills is essential.

Significant portion of experience in commercial finance roles including analysis, budgeting, planning and forecasting.
