Education Data and Product Developer

Purpose of role: To contribute to the delivery of assessment products that are based on past tests and examinations (print and onscreen question banks, exemplars and reporting) and the commissioning of new assessments and technology development. Responsibility for secondary mathematics products as well as some smaller subjects like psychology and physical education (PE) will be central to the role so experience in one or more of these subject areas is desirable. The role will also have a particular focus on the use of data at all stages of product development and will require you to steer, manage, quality assure and communicate about the projects you own, working closely with Doublestruck colleagues across development and delivery.

The Education Team – of which this role is a part – represents existing and potential users of

Doublestruck products, so a consistent focus on timely, relevant and impactful messaging for relevant products across all communication platforms will be very important.

You will need to work closely with AQA colleagues to maintain and widen channels of communication, as well as contractors, to ensure the timely delivery of products and provide feedback where necessary.

Location: AQA Guildford plus flexibility to spend one day a week in London (currently operating hybrid working with at least 40% of the week in the office)

Key responsibilities:

The business depends upon the sound application of technology to meet educational needs. You should maintain an understanding of the context that teachers and data managers are working in and keep up to date with educational policy and pressure points for schools. You should use this knowledge to inform the content and scheduling of messaging about relevant products. You should be able to use all Doublestruck software proficiently to enhance your own work, to inform the development of new products and technologies and to create promotions for users.

Planning and organising

• Keep relevant products up to date

• Liaise with all relevant colleagues to ensure messaging is updated in a timely manner across all communication platforms

• Liaise with all relevant colleagues to ensure data management processes inform product development effectively

• Liaise with Production team for updates

• Liaise with Support team to improve existing content and identify customer needs

• Evaluate existing resources and identify areas for development

• Propose new educational / assessment resources

• Specify projects, including costings, project mapping and resource requirements for developmental projects

• Support delivery of projects in line with agreed project plans

Data management

• Explore and identify how best to use data to inform product development and prioritisation, including (but not limited to) enhancement of current products and development of new resources and communications campaigns

• Explore and identify how best to use and display data in user-facing tools such as onscreen, reporting and the admin console

• Represent the needs of schools, including data managers, in determining the development of reporting – through personal experience and engagement with schools

• Quality-assure and maintain the metadata behind our products to ensure a high standard of service to our customers

Training

• Deliver training – internal and external – including webinars and written guidance materials

Customer facing

• Attend events representing Doublestruck (and AQA)

• Liaise with customers (including, but not limited to, teachers) directly

Communications

• Prepare key messages and review all relevant communications regularly

• Liaise with Communications team to ensure relevant products are promoted and supported appropriately

• Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g. AQA) and external stakeholders (e.g. contractors)
