Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK with a nationwide network of rehoming centres, charity shops and education providers. Our ambitions are to continue to care for over 9000 dogs in our centres, to have over 20,000 dogs bring their owners to Dog School and to visit over 3000 establishments delivering our educational message to over 400,000 learners every year. We never put a healthy dog down and our prevention work is paramount in our strategy to achieve this.
Within the Dogs Trust Canine Behaviour and Research directorate sits the Community Education and Engagement Department. This is made up of UK wide, regionally focussed teams with a mixture of expertise, including training and behaviour, teaching, education and campaigning. The Department is core to the mission of Dogs Trust, with an aim of identifying and preventing the issues faced by dogs and owners which commonly result in relinquishment or early euthanasia using a range of Human Behaviour Change based interventions.
You will be responsible for day-to day management of a passionate team focused on helping people and dogs, through honest conversations and using a resourceful approach to bring out the best in others, you will be regularly identifying people management and development needs while also conducting regular appraisals in the team. Working closely with the Area Manager you will support the recruitment and induction of new colleagues ensuring they are fully committed to living the values and behaviours of Dogs Trust.
You will also help us to educate young people and their caregivers though delivering workshops. These focus on educating children and the wider community by increasing knowledge and introducing key values to change attitudes about dog ownership and overall canine welfare. Ultimately ensuring that society, as a whole, knows how to behave safely around dogs.
An experienced team manager you will have a recognised teaching qualification and experience of delivering confidently and passionately. You’ll have plenty of passion and enthusiasm as well a basic understanding of the aims and objectives of Dogs Trust.
