Local Unit & Position Description:

As a Software Engineer at DNV’s Renewable & Power Grid, you will have the opportunity to work on tools that help the energy industry to bring more solar, wind and storage projects online, reducing carbon emissions and accelerating the renewable energy transition.

We are looking for a Software Engineer who has passion for clean energy and software development, enjoys building tools that can be used by many team members, feels comfortable reaching out to end users to gather feedback and most importantly is an excellent teammate. Besides those characteristics you should feel comfortable designing, implementing, and maintaining analytics and data-related tools in collaboration with the rest of the team.

This position may be based out of our Seattle, WA; San Diego, CA; Portland, OR; Medford, MA; or Austin, TX offices, and could be a remote position based out of any location in the Continental U.S.


What You’ll Do:
  • Making improvements to wind, solar or storage analytics tools
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining systems to consume and serve APIs from private or publicly available sources
  • Collaborating with team members to understand user stories, acceptance criteria, to share status updates and blockers
  • Writing Python code following common practices such as documentation, testing, scalable and being open to receiving feedback in code review sessions
  • Working in an agile environment, small team but at the same time being part of a large organization
  • Supporting internal teams by providing training or troubleshooting

Position Qualifications:


What is Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience creating and maintaining data systems
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience developing and deploying solutions in Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or other cloud provider
  • Professional experience delivering API-based solutions
  • Proficient in Python (including Object Oriented programming), git and Docker
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

What is Preferred:
  • Experience working with large timeseries data sets
  • Comprehensive understanding of fundamental solar and wind modeling principles
  • Proficiency Linux, Excel, or R
  • Professional experience working with Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployments using Azure Pipelines

As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $75000 – $105000
