The Team Lead- Controls Engineer for Show Systems Design will be responsible for day-to-day personnel and portfolio management for Show responsibilities under the Show/Audio-Video/Resort-Wide Systems umbrella, within the Engineering, Technology, and Analysis (ET&A) division of Global Engineering & Technology (GE&T). ET&A is the technology lead organization for all attraction’s operational technology globally. The Show Systems Design team is responsible for the deployment, development, installation, and sustainment of show control systems throughout Walt Disney World resort while supporting select show elements at our worldwide sites and cruise line ships.

The Team Lead-Controls Engineer for the Show Systems Design team will to the Manager – Show Controls/AV/Ride Controls and be responsible for supporting all phases of strategic planning, including personnel management, mentorship, project scope/budget/schedule management, and park sustainment support. In addition to these tasks, the Team Lead will be required to perform and/or validate software engineering tasks including engineering analysis, testing, requirements validation, maintenance, inspection procedures, and installation. Successful candidates will work with multiple partners, including Disney Cruise Line, Walt Disney Imagineering, Engineering Services, Operations, and Disney Live Entertainment, from all levels of the organization to resolve data and requirements-driven technical solutions.

You Will:

On any given day, as a Team Leader – Controls Engineer, you might:

• Lead a team of multi-disciplined engineers and programmers responsible for multiple projects, serving as an advocate for the success of each project.
• Establish positive relationships with each direct , providing mentorship and growth in a professional environment, serving as an advocate for cast success.
• Compliance and implementation of Global, Local, and Site-specific standards and best practices.
• Facilitate software design principles to include peer reviews, design reviews, and in-depth analysis.
• Review, redline and approve hardware schematics including wire lists, network diagrams, logic flow, and assembly drawing packages.

You will have:

• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proven ability to lead, empower, mentor, and guide team members.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with team members, customers, and collaborators.
• Proven ability to resolve challenges and demonstrate integrity.
• Proven ability to read, write and understand multiple software languages.
• Knowledge and understanding of motor control functionality and theory, including closed-loop and open-loop strategies and implementations.
• Knowledge and understanding of technology-driven theatrical implementations.
• In-depth understanding of network communication protocols.
• Understanding of PLC hardware/software implementation.
• Familiarity with different software communication methodologies and protocols.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies for real-time and non-real-time systems.
• General understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical implementations of audio-animatronics.

Preferred Qualifications:

It would be great if you also have:

• Project or personnel leadership experience.
• Shown expertise in C, C++, C#, .Net, Delphi, Structured Text, JavaScript, Python, and Ladder Logic.
• Experience with SAP applications and WBS management s.
• Experience with Visual Studio and Netlinx development environments.
• Experience with Project Management, including Scope, Proposal, Burn-rate calculations, and Closeout.
• General knowledge of The Walt Disney Company’s organizational structure and business divisions.
• Experience with software repository applications.

Education

• Required: ABET-Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• ABET-Accredited Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related discipline is preferred.
