Director of Finance

This position is fully remote in the US with a starting base salary of $130,000.

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance to oversee all financial activities, including but not limited to, reporting on financials to Sr. leadership, budgeting/forecasting, partnering with departments to provide financial insights, disbursing funds to departments, managing risk, implementing policies, and improving financial processes.

Role Mission

To act as a financial strategic advisor to the organization, advising and making recommendations to produce best financial results and growth as we scale. Equip the organization, leadership, department heads, and service leaders with the financial visibility, analytics, metrics, and acumen necessary to make the best financial decisions to support growth and profitability goals. Understand the long term strategic plan and vision to ensure we are set up financially to proactively support growth.

Role Outcomes

• Develop robust financial reporting processes and systems and lead presenting results to equip the organization with the financial understanding and acumen to make educated decisions with growth and profitability in mind. Serve as the strategic financial expert in analyzing results and advising the organization.
• Produce financial analytics and metrics at the company level, department level, and service level to gauge understanding of ratios, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and opportunities to enhance growth and profitability. Collaborate with Sr. leadership, department heads, and service leaders and advise on financial challenges, opportunities, and decisions.
• Review company strategic plans, short and long term, and develop a financial roadmap to ensure our infrastructure can proactively scale and support anticipated growth.
• Work with Sr. Leadership to develop financial incentive programs to align the organization around growth and profitability.
• Review cash position and advise on best ways to leverage to accomplish growth objectives and produce yield
• Collaborate with all department heads and service leaders regularly, to ensure transparency and proactive communication. Work together to develop financial processes.
• Serve as the Financial Liaison to the organization, participating as a visible and communicative leader throughout the organization on everything finance.
• Immerse yourself in the business to truly understand the business, our customers, how we make money, financial levers, and critical processes that drive outcomes, to enable you to make the best decisions as a leader within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Act as a strategic member of the leadership team.
• Directing financial planning and strategy. Create and establish yearly financial objectives and budgets that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
• Assess and evaluate financial performance and alignment to long term strategic and business goals, budgets, and forecasts. Make recommendations to Sr. Leadership on how to boost financial performance.
• Serve as the finance liaison to the business, ensuring outputs from finance are easy to use/understand and have a positive impact on the rest of the organization.
• Manage cash flow to ensure the business has the capital to achieve growth goals.
• Prepares and oversees financial reporting to departments, leadership, and ownership in coordination with strategic plan, annual budgets, and forecasts.
• Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing work efficiency.
• Works cross functionally as a subject matter expert to provide analysis and financial guidance to service channels and departments.
• Review long term growth plans and build financial roadmaps to ensure systems, processes, and structures support growth.
• Creates analytics and effective operational measurements to monitor performance across the business. Makes suggestions to drive financial efficiency.
• Ability to be a critical thinker and manage aspects of the business by anticipating future requirements, or ways to change current activities to better serve the organization or end goal.
• Assessing, managing, and minimizing risk.
• Overseeing audit, tax, and compliance functions.
• Develops and sustains relationships with financial vendors such as banking, accounting, and legal partners.

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a Financial Manager, Senior Financial Manager, Director of Finance or similar role.
• 7-10 years’ work experience, with experience in a manager or leadership role with continual increase in responsibility.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Experience in a start up environment, leading the finance department through significant growth.
• Strategic thinker that can identify areas for change or growth, and recommend then implement actionable plans for improvement.
• Experience with capital structure decisions and analysis; credit agreements, operating agreements, equity/debt issuance.
• Experience managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders through knowledge of company operations and strong track record of dependability.
• Advanced expertise in Excel creating spreadsheets, using advanced formulas, and working with large datasets.
• Ability to adapt to new problems and successfully operate in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
• Excellent analytical skills with ability to provide value outside of typical financial/accounting roles.
• Excellent communicator with proven ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
• Leadership experience with comfort delivering recommendations to executives.
• Must be a self-starter driven to continuously learn and develop by taking on new challenges.
• BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a similar field. MBA or professional certification (CFA, CPA or CMA) is a benefit.

Benefits and Compensation:

• Starting salary $130,000 (experience dependent)
