Dharma College is a 35,000 square foot building located in the heart of downtown Berkeley. The facility houses an on-line and in person college, a Dharma hall, a co-working space, and an events center. We are looking for a Community manager to assist our Executive program manager in running this innovative institution. If you are creative, disciplined, spiritual and mindful- this position might be just right for you. We are situated in a beautiful landmark building with really wonderful people who care and who wish to attend to living with wisdom and balance. This position comes with room and board along with a modest stipend. You would have access to all our classes as part of your learning environment.Â

Working closely with the Executive program manager, the Community manager will be responsible for developing public community events and running the co-working facility. A secondary activity is to expand the marketing outreach of Dharma College to a general audience. Please have a look at our site: www.dharma-college.com to learn more about what we are doing.Â
Skills and Abilities:
The Community Manager should be community-oriented, and willing to assist in marketing Dharma College to the local Berkeley community and beyond. Having a creative and knowledge of developing public events, keen eye for aesthetics would be useful, with dependable work habits, a friendly manner, and happy to help our members. Experience in creative design on Canva would be a plus for helping with social media marketing, along with an understanding of how to operate zoom video communication. This person should have good communication and marketing skills especially in developing an annual calendar of events for the Dharma College community.Â
Duties include:
Take primary responsibility for managing Coworking with Wisdom. He/She/They will be able to provide tours for new members, prospective members, or anyone who is interested. And invite them to join the space/community. These duties include:
Opening and closing the building Monday- Saturday.
Greet members entering the space with a smile and eye contact.
Update community on any events, important dates, announcements, and even weather or important information like COVID.
Updating the Community Standards, Membership Document and Covid Restriction Documentation to hand to each member.
Maintain and Organize members physical and electronic files.
Keep the space clean and tidy including the ground floor and members area.Â
Keep the space well-stocked with supplies (kitchen, bathrooms, printing area).Â
Receive packages during office hours.Â
Being available to answer questions and introduce members to each other.
Help grow the community.Â
Develop prospective member outreach lists and engage them via email. Also, gather and follow- up with prospective member leads from CWW events, seeking attendees to member conversion.
Ensuring that regular monthly membership payments are made through Satellite Deskworks along with an excel sheet with member’s document.
Being responsible for answering the door-bell and dealing with enquiries during working hours, including phone calls and general enquiries.

Take primary responsibility for the organization of community events
– Monthly evening musical and dance performances.
– Yearly Asian Cultural street fair.
– Â Â Assist with in-person Dharma College events
Â
Assist the Executive program manager on a marketing plan including;
– Send out information to our local DBA (Downtown Berkeley Association) newsletters and update Instagram and Facebook.
– Placing flyers in local coffee shops twice a week
– Reaching out to old members and see if they like to return to work; manage volunteers.
– Running blogs, facebook pages, instagram and google advertising.

Assist the Executive program manager with general maintenance for the building
– Helping to prepare maintenance tasks for caretaker (see SOP 003)
Help with community maintenance.Â
