The Chief Technology Office (CTO) sits within Technology Data and Innovation (TDI), covering both Run and Change activities, with a budget of c.€1.3bn and c.9,000 internal/external staff. CTO encompasses cloud and platform technologies, compute, storage, databases, networks, data centres and end user computing globally. It also has responsibility for bank-wide architecture, strategy and transformation.

As the Head of Software Asset & License Management (SALM), you will ensure that we demonstrate effective, bank-wide control and transparency across Deutsche Bank’s software estate, covering both licensed and open-source software. The SALM function is critical in defining and championing software strategies and cost save initiatives across the Bank.

Your key responsibilities

• Bank-wide accountability for all commercial and open-source Software Asset & License Management activities and functions, including vendor management of our broad base of software providers
• Reporting to Management Board on Deutsche Bank’s Software spend, and the underlying drivers and influencers
• Define and embed multi-year software strategies across all Business and Infrastructure areas, then work closely with Software Owners and Group Architecture to drive alignment with these strategies
• Implement standard, Deutsche Bank-wide tools and processes for effective SALM, including license registration, proof of entitlements, audit scanning, catalogue management, software discovery & usage, open-source vulnerability identification & reporting
• Manage SALM change-the-bank teams on all software transformation initiatives

Your skills and experience

• Proven leadership within large-scale, complex enterprises in Financial Services sector (ideally)
• Broad knowledge of SALM via a background in Procurement or Software Asset Management, including an understanding of contract and license types (i.e. on premise, as-a-Service and cloud) and open-source software practices & challenges
• Development and realisation of Information Technology (IT) Strategy within functionally-diverse, global organisations
• Excellent communication skills, with experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders (to Board level) and supporting internal clients
• Strong commercial, legal and financial management skills
