Design Engineer – Structural & Systems (Solar)
This role is for an engineer who wants more than just drawings.
At KB Racking, you won’t just produce designs – you’ll help define how our systems are engineered, standardized, and scaled across North America.
We design and manufacture rooftop solar mounting systems used on commercial buildings across the U.S. and Canada. As we grow, we’re building the internal engineering systems that allow us to move faster, stay compliant, and reduce friction for our customers.
What You’ll Actually Do
- Design real projects: layouts, arrays, and 2D drawings (with internal + offshore teams)
- Apply and interpret building codes, structural loads, and system constraints
- Work with wind tunnel data and translate it into usable design rules
- Help evolve engineering standards as codes change over time
- Improve how our systems work (AutoCAD, calculators and proprietary software)
- Catch issues before they reach clients; own quality, not just output
What We’re Looking For
- 3 to 6 years in design engineering or structural engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
- Strong understanding of loads, building codes, and real-world constraints
- Comfortable using AutoCAD
- Able to interpret technical reports and apply them practically
- Someone who enjoys taking ownership and finding solutions to real-world problems
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Solar or rooftop system experience
- Wind loading / environmental loading exposure
- AutoLISP or automation experience
Compensation
$65,000 – $85,000 CAD
