Director of Compliance

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Team/CEO, oversees the management and supervision of Title 31 and compliance operations. Ensures Event Wagering regulatory compliance issues are addressed and resolved. Maintains and strengthens regulatory relationships and provides regulatory guidance to the internal team on all compliance issues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Safeguards Desert Diamond Mobile’s Event Waging license, protecting it to the best of your ability and responding immediately to any threats to the license.
• Protects the assets of Desert Diamond Mobile related to Event Wagering, including revenues generated by our sportsbook, the integrity of the sportsbook, and the health and safety of our players and employees.
• Ensures compliance with all Federal, local and state regulations.
• Directs the establishment, implementation and communication of goals, objectives, policies and procedures in accordance with the strategic plan and applicable laws, regulations, ordinance, and regulatory agencies.
• Develops, implements, and maintains all policies and procedures for Title 31 and SAR activity including the daily audit filings, CTR filings, SAR filings, and coordinating the AML (Anti Money Laundering) Committee.
• Implements and assists managerial staff in completion of all departmental Risk Analaysis requirements.
• Reviews operations to determine the impact and effectiveness of internal controls and provides recommendations for expansion and/or improvements in controls or services.
• Resolves compliance and internal audit concerns.
• Coordinates all internal and external audit reviews and documentation preparation.
• Coordinates all license renewals ensuring accurate documentation submission and deadline requirements.
• Maintains a structured record retention system that hosts all previous audits, audit findings/responses, license renewal submissions and all Title 31/SAR documentation.
• Follows up on criminal and civil cases dealing with gaming that are being prosecuted through any court.
• Maintains appropriate documentation on incidents as required by policies and procedures.
• Prepares and presents reports on status, activities, and plans for current and future operations to executive team.
• Maintains effective working relationships between Title 31 and internal team, ADG, IRS and any other applicable agency.
• Reports to the executive team any failure by Desert Diamond Mobile to comply with any provisions, gaming ordinances, or any other applicable laws or regulations.
• Ensures compliance with all Desert Diamond Mobile policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensures confidentiality of all information pertaing to Desert Diamond Mobile.
• Oversees Title 31, operational audits, statistical reporting and variance analysis, Title 31 program training and administration and all Minimum Internal Control Standared (MICS) requirements, with required and appropriate follow up on all findings.
• Maintains a positive, professional work environment and contributes to the team efforts.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Compliance or related field.
• 5 years of relevant managerial experience (i.e. an emphasis on Title 31) in the banking, casino or iGaming (casino or sports) sectors, with at least two years demonstrating strong analytical experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant and direct experience may be considered.
• No felony, theft or stealing convictions.
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment screening (which may include a drug and alcohol screening) and background investigation and obtain and maintain a gaming license with the State of Arizona.

2. Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:

• Extensive knowledge of and experience with federal, state, and Indian online gambling regulations, including Title 31 requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of online gambling operations and internal controls.
• Ability to design a training program and provide employee training on Title 31 requirements.
• Knowledge of Arizona Event Wagering regulations, including understanding regulatory requirements for licensing, operations and products.
• Able to understand and adhere to any regulatory standards and changes
• Knowledge of records management and GAAP accounting procedures.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret complicated documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with staff and general public.
• Ability to conduct presentations to the staff, tribal officials and any other audience, with a professional appearance and manner.
• Copywriting and editing skills in English language.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently.

3. Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member regularly is required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to walk. The team member occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

4. Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office setting. Evening, holiday and or weekend work may be required. Extend hours or irregular shifts may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $97,700.00 – $111,783.00 per year
