We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Officer to join our HR Services team at Derbyshire County Council.
HR Services is a busy transactional centre providing specialised recruitment and payroll services to the Council’s managers and employees, schools and academies and a range of other external clients processing on a yearly basis:
4,758 recruitment adverts
8,000 DBS checks
6000 contracts of employment
50,000 pay transactions
You will manage one of our teams of Business Services Assistants within our fast paced pay function, ensuring a timely, high quality and consistent service is delivered to all clients.
We’re looking for someone who has a proactive approach to the continuing improvement of the transactional workflow and an appreciation of terms and conditions of employment as well as knowledge of payroll related processes. An understanding of the transactional pay process is essential.
What skills & experience will you need?
Experience in using SAP payroll software
Experience of analysing and diagnosing complex problems and to research and present recommendations including dealing with overpayment procedures
Experience in interpreting and applying a range of terms and conditions of service and employment
Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills with excellent attention to detail
Have a strong commitment to providing first class customer service with good prioritisation skills and who is driven by meeting deadlines
Experience of and ability to lead a team to meet organisational objectives and optimise performance levels

Our HR Services team is contractually based in Matlock, Derbyshire, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic we’re currently working remotely. There’ll be an opportunity to discuss future working arrangements at interview.
