Job description
Directorate: People Services
Hours: Full-time
Required: January 2022 onwards
Location: The Kingsmead School
Derby’s most disadvantaged learners need you to transform their futures.
Kingsmead is a school with a vision and a mission: we’re here to help some of the most vulnerable young people in Derby gain the life skills to get ahead. Offering a number of provisions, including our Special School and Pupil Referral Unit, we work with between 160 and 220 secondary students with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. You will support us to take our school provision to the next level.
Located at a range of our city central locations, you will be delivering Outdoor Education to children from various schools in the Kingsmead collection of schools and across Derby city. You will place excellence at the heart of everything we do and champion the highest standards of teaching and learning.
Taking ownership of both your indoor and outdoor classroom, you will realise the full potential of the young people we work with and deliver a curriculum outside of the traditional offer. You must be prepared to go the extra mile and ensure we never give up.
An ambitious, resilient and inspiring teacher, you will be well versed in SEMH strategies and capable of finding solutions for pupils in challenging circumstances. Show us that you can transform our children’s chances and enhance our outcomes and we will give you all the encouragement you need to accelerate your career.
You will be qualified appropriately in outdoor and adventurous activities and have experience of teaching this in either pre or post 16 education settings. You will have experience or a sound understanding of the importance of planning and delivering sessions to students with SEND. Our teaching setting will involve teaching to small groups of students in order to ensure you can most effectively meet their needs. In order to help us achieve the best outcomes for our students, you will ideally hold an up to date Bushcraft or Forest Schools qualification.
For an informal discussion or to arrange a visit, please contact Sharon on 01332 973830 or [email protected]
If you feel you would be interested in working with us then please complete the downloadable application form with a supporting letter to acknowledge your application (no more than 2 sides of A4) for the attention of Sharon Barker. Please email to: [email protected]
Closing date: 14th January 2022
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all our students as our number one priority. This includes a commitment to robust Recruitment, Selection and Induction procedures.
