As an Adviser in Finance Branch, you will be part of a multi-functional finance team in a high-profile, fast-paced environment. You will work closely with varied stakeholders, including our shared service clients; the National Indigenous Australians Agency and the National Recovery and Resilience Agency.

Our teams within Finance Branch are responsible for:

• external and statutory reporting including the department’s financial statements, and the department’s asset control framework, tax management, and treasury functions
• the delivery of PM&C’s internal and external budget and costing new policy proposals
• contributing to complex and sensitive correspondence such as advice to Senate Estimates briefs, Question Time briefs, Questions on Notice, incorporating insights and analysis to support decision making on the internal financial management of the department including reporting to the executive on the department’s financial position, and
• the delivery of management accounting advice and support to groups and divisions to ensure PM&C leaders can make well informed decisions.

A merit list will be established for any future vacancies across Finance Branch. Duties of the positions include:

• Providing advice on relevant and complex internal budget and financial policy, budget support, coordination of budget preparation, financial performance monitoring and reporting in accordance with PM&C policies and procedures.
• Managing financial support, contributing to budget preparation and financial performance monitoring and reporting in accordance with PM&C objectives.
• Interpreting and providing advice based on legislation, policy and procedures.
• Coordinating the provision of advice and guidance to others on financial operations activities and tasks.
• Providing sound accounting advice to stakeholders on technical financial accounting and asset issues.
• Coordinating financial governance requirements and promoting compliance with the financial management frameworks.
• Identifying financial issues and applying financial management knowledge to objective and systematic analysis and conclusions.
• Building and sustaining effective relationships with team members and actively participating in team work and group activities.
• Managing and prioritising workflows and resources.

Ideally:

• A Bachelor of Commerce/Business/Accounting or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Member of a professional accounting body (CPA/CAANZ) is highly desirable.
• Substantial experience in using financial systems, such as SAP or TechnologyOne is essential.
• Substantial experience in financial roles is essential.
