About the role

The Senior Finance Officer, reports to the Senior Manager, Stolen Generations Reparations Unit and manages one Project Officer. The role will be responsible for the delivery of financial monitoring, accounting, budget, procurement, and administration services to support the success of the $150M Stolen Generations Reparations Package.

The Senior Finance Officer will work closely with the Aboriginal Justice Group’s Finance Manager to provide high quality, authoritative advice and support to executives, the Secretary and relevant Ministers as required on matters associated with financial and budget management.

The role also requires resilience, empathy, and experience dealing with material that can be challenging and distressing.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience in budget preparation, cash flow management and ongoing expenditure monitoring.
• Knowledge of government accounting and financial legislation, policies, and processes, preferably within a state government environment (or similar).
• Demonstrated experience in the application of the Oracle Financial System or ability to rapidly acquire skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community.

A qualification in Finance, Commerce or Accounting and/or commensurate experience is highly desirable.
