About the business unit

Corporate Services is responsible for providing the region with a range of corporate support functions including human resources, finance and procurement, planning and reporting, administration, and workforce development.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Services, the Finance Manager is responsible for leading and managing a small team in the effective delivery of a range of financial, accounting, budget, procurement, and administrative support services for the Grampians Region. This position also monitors the financial performance of the Region and provides advice on budget and finance and procurement and stores related matters. With the nature of the role, you will be expected to work on location in Ararat and we are unable to support remote working for this role.

Some of your duties will include:

• Manage and supervise a small team in the quality delivery of financial and stores services to the Grampians Region; plan and prioritise the team’s workload and support their ongoing training and development.
• Ensure the delivery of services meet agreed corporate and program objectives, service delivery standards and timelines, specified budgetary outcomes, stakeholder expectations and location needs.
• Undertake ongoing region wide financial reconciliation, reporting and analysis including preparation of monthly budget variance reports and forecasts and adhoc financial reports as required.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience in government finance.
• Knowledge of government accounting and financial legislation, policies, and processes, preferably within a state government environment (or similar).
• Demonstrated experience in the application of the Oracle Financial System.
