The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant will be responsible for the developing business processes of accounting for assets to ensure ongoing compliance with best practice and accounting standards. Working as part of a team, this is a dynamic role which focuses on the full end to end asset accounting function and applying best practice to identify process improvement opportunities.
The Department of Education and Training has one of the largest asset portfolios in Australia. The purpose of this role is to ensure the Department’s property, plant and equipment is reported in compliance with the Financial Management Act 1994, Department of Treasury and Finance Reporting Directions and Australian accounting standards.
The role requires excellent written skills for the development of key fixed asset policies and procedures. Further, technical accounting skills are required to deliver the requirements of state government accounting within the context of the Department’s corporate plan and operational environment.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential for this role to forge superior working relationships with senior staff across the Department and to deliver critical deliverables in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
