Assistant, Financial Analyst, Temporary, SYDNEY

• 6month initial temp role with the potential for extension and permanent opportunity

The Corporate Finance team is looking for an Assistant, Financial Analyst to join their team!
Corporate Finance leads and manages strategic and operational finance functions for the Department. It undertakes key financial management roles including budgeting and forecasting, management reporting and statutory reporting, financial analysis, and overall financial governance for DCS. Corporate Finance is also responsible for providing advice to the DCS Secretary and executive team to enable informed and sound decision-making for the department.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist in the preparation of Treasury reports in PRIME* (Annual, Half Year and Monthly) for actuals and projections
• Assist in the preparation of Budget adjustment journals in PRIME (Annual and Half Year)
• Assist with the preparation of Final Budget Proposals in PRIME
• Respond to Treasury queries on a timely manner by working with the finance managers (actuals, projections and budget)
• Prepare trend analysis, graphs and provide variance analysis
• Provide expert financial advice and support to stakeholders to enable informed decision making
• PRIME is the NSW Government platform used by Government Agencies to submit data for budget, performance monitoring and reporting.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

• Ideally working towards a CPA or CA qualification
• Experience with financial systems as well as a high level of proficiency in MS Excel and SAP, TM1, PRIME experience preferred
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or an equivalent related discipline
• Sound communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus and desire to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of professionals
• Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a team with a result driven focus

Salary Grade 5/6, with the base salary for this role starting at $87,493 base plus superannuation
