Position Descriptor:
Mimili Anangu School is part of a remote Aboriginal Community on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands. The incumbent in this position will teach a reception/ year 1 class, but may be required to teach up to year 7 as the needs of the school change.. There is a strong focus on oral language, reading and writing and developing literacy and numeracy skills using EAL/D strategies. An understanding and experience in delivering systematic synthetic phonics as a part of the Big 6 is desirable. Having strong behaviour and classroom management strategies, including routine is important. All teachers work closely with Anangu Educators to deliver all aspects of the curriculum and it is important that the teacher develops strong relationships with families and community members. Working in an Anangu setting can be isolating and challenging so it is important to be able to be flexible, and work both as an individual and as a member of a team. Accommodation is likely to be in a shared house. Mimili is a great place to live and work.

To ensure employer compliance of duty of care responsibilities given the unique environment of the APY Lands, a wellness check will be conducted for any teacher nominated for this position and prior to any offer of employment.
