About the role

As part of the internal National Finance services, you will form part of the team which controls the firms Balance Sheet, statutory reporting and external compliance responsibilities. In this exciting role you will be reporting to the Group Financial Controller, responsible for payroll accounting for the firm and the general ledger accounts associated with payroll. You will be monitoring the cash allocation and bank reconciliation processes performed by the offshore team. You will also have contribution toward the preparation of entity statutory accounts, and to ensure the Firm is meeting internal and external compliance requirements.

This role will provide the opportunity to improve operational processes and unlock efficiencies which directly impact the services we support. You will also be providing crucial subject matter expertise and input on group-wide initiatives for the firm. Your contribution to the professional delivery of service to the business is key to Deloitte’s success.

Responsibilities will include;

Payroll accounting

Provide accounting support for the payroll function for the Firm each month for employees & partners

Subject expert in the accounting treatments relates to payroll clearing and leave provision

Preparation of the monthly balance sheet reconciliations

Managing and clearing of open items in the payroll clearing accounts. Taking initiate steps in working with various stakeholders from payroll and business to resolve the open items

Monitoring and review all the payroll journals to ensure the correct expenses are recorded in the Firm’s P&L

Cash accounting

Managing the delivery of the overall cash allocation and bank reconciliation processes performed by the offshore Global Shared Service Centre

Identify and escalate to the Group Financial Controller of any issues in the cash processes

Review and recommend for sign off of the bank reconciliations on a monthly basis

Financial reporting & Compliance

Preparation of financial accounts for Deloitte Australian entities, both trading and non-trading for annual solvency purpose

Review and sign off GST reconciliation prepared by offshore Global Shared Service Centre. Lodgement of the monthly BAS via Tax Portal

Provide financial data to the leadership for the annual policy renewal for business & professional indemnity insurances, and workers’ compensation

Monitoring of posting to general ledger at month end – WIP disbursement clearing and GST on intercompany transactions

Other

Assist year end and internal audit, preparation of the working paper as directed by the Group Financial Controller as and when required

About the team

A friendly team consisting of a Group Financial Controller, a team lead and accountants. The majority of the team are qualified accountants, providing support for employees who wish to pursue their professional qualification.

The outsourced activities are performed by the Global Shared Service team located offshore. A team of great team to work with on a daily basis.

Experience with SAP & Excel is preferable

Accounting or finance degree qualified

Working toward or planning to start professional qualification

Prior experience in a similar role is preferable
