Senior Software Engineer (Java/REST API’s ) – PowerProtect Data Management Product

The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics — all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners.

Our Irvine team is developing Dell’s PowerProtect Data Management (PPDM) product which is a scalable, software/appliance-based solution for centralized management of enterprise level customer data. This group has several opportunities for bright and motivated senior engineers to join this growing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain Disaster Recovery software using Java and Spring Framework technologies.
• Participate in architecture discussions and reviews.
• Participate in milestone demos and constructively weigh and integrate feedback from Product Designers and customers.
• Work in a distributed-team environment.
• Work closely with other development teams, QA, and customer support.

Essential Requirements

• Strong Java programming skills and in-depth knowledge of OOD and OOP
• Experience producing and consuming REST APIs
• Experience debugging and testing distributed system applications (client/server applications)
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
• Effective in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Ability to assist with Test Automation and Test Execution for continuous quality improvement
• BS in Computer Science or related field plus 5+ years industry experience or equivalent

Desirable Requirements

• Knowledge of Spring Framework
• Experience in Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) principles
• Knowledge of Agile development methodology (Scrum, XP, etc.)
