What you’ll be doing

You’ll be leading Deliveroo’s Finance & Strategy team supporting the Consumer-side of our marketplace. The Consumer group has responsibility for all marketing activities that drive customer awareness, consideration, acquisition and retention. This team is focused intensely on the key drivers of Deliveroo’s value proposition and are constantly looking for ways to improve it. This is truly an exciting team to be a part of – not only because of the customer facing environment but also because our team members think like scientists; heavily utilising data science, customer feedback and insights to help drive better decision making. As an important member of the Consumer leadership team, you’ll be helping manage critical initiatives, such as Deliveroo’s Plus subscription program, setting the company’s pricing strategy around customer service and delivery fees, developing customer acquisition mechanics in new customer promotions and CRM, optimising our digital marketing investments and much more. You’ll also work cross-functionally with in-country leadership as well as across the other sides of the marketplace with Restaurant and Riders.

Key activities:

• Partner with the senior leadership to help set the strategic direction of Consumer activities centrally and across markets
• Act as the “Consumer CFO,” with responsibility to manage marketing budgets, forecasts, reporting and supporting strategic initiatives.
• Own key financial processes in annual budget setting, financial modelling for business development and providing technical financial guidance for Consumer investments.
• Leverage your commercial experience and knowledge to identify areas of strategic interest and frame approaches to tackle them
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders in the business to develop, track and analyse performance
• Ensure linkage to central functions in execution of country initiatives, deployment of new products/capabilities and alignment with company-wide missions
• Drive key resource allocation discussions
• Lead your team to discover, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
• Recruit top finance talent and develop team members into a world class finance and strategy organisation
• Develop and implement world class finance processes and P&L discipline across the organisation

What we are looking for:

• At least 10+ years experience in increasing levels of responsibility through commercial finance, FP&A and business strategy functions
• Demonstrated ability to create value and lead decision making in ambitious, entrepreneurial, and high-pace environments
• Strong core financial acumen and technical finance skill set; ability to provide guidance to the business in order to optimise its investments and make sound financial decisions helping accelerate profitability
• Proven excellence in leadership capacity; and developing top tier finance organisations and processes
• An understanding of working in a global, matrix organisation
• Successful track record operating, partnering with and influencing exec-level stakeholders
• Excel at solving unstructured problems
• Able to lead cross-functional teams without authority
• Ability to prioritise work, project manage and be very detail oriented
• Superior oral and written communication skills required; ability to verbally communicate technical finance components to non-financial stakeholders. Ability to structure influential and highly effective written documents
• A background in operational FP&A/ Corporate Finance/ Business Development Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/ Accounting/ Economics or equivalent

Additional preferences:

• Strong knowledge of the restaurant industry or in any customer-obsessed business
• Experience with subscription-based business models or products
• Experience scaling a technology platform to mass adoption and profitability
• MS/MBA from top-tier university; professional credentials in finance/accounting (CPA, CFA) a plus
